Express relaxation made in Japan

02 Nov

A super-simple tip for you from Japan that can help you unwind in just a few minutes.

This magical trick is self-massage using your own hands, a practice inspired by Jin Shin Jyutsu. And no, it's not just a trend: a 2014 study even showed that it can actually help reduce stress. Let's break it down:

Each finger on your hand represents an emotion:

  • Thumb: your shield against worry and anxiety.
  • Index finger: the knight who fights your fears.
  • Major: supports you to tame anger and bitterness.
  • Ring finger: it's there to chase away depression and melancholy.
  • Auricular: it's your ally in eliminating stress and filling you with optimism

It's easy to get started:

  • Hold your hand out in front of you, palm up.
  • With your other hand, squeeze a finger, as if you were giving it a little hug.
  • Hold for 1-2 minutes, or until you feel a small pulse.
  • For a boost, press your thumb gently into the center of your palm at the same time.
  • Then move on to the next finger and continue, until you feel completely relaxed.

In just a few minutes, you should already feel more relaxed.
