Phone, social media, etc. How to stop these addictions!

10 Jul

If you think you spend too much time on your screens, if you feel it’s adversely affecting your family life, your mood or your productivity at work... this article is for you!

Start by setting your own digital discomfort threshold. How do you go about this? Pay attention to symptoms like eye strain, headaches or sleep disorders. Also, don’t overlook signs of addiction, social isolation or decreased productivity.

Download (quickly) a few apps that will help you control your screen time: Moment or Screen Time (on iOS) and Digital Wellbeing (on Android).

If you need to focus on a complex task, turn on the “Do Not Disturb” mode to block all notifications and not be disturbed ... but still be reached in case of emergency.

At night, turn on the “Sleep” mode. Your smartphone screen will dim to get you ready for bed. Ideally, charge your phone in a different room to keep you from scrolling until the wee hours of the night.

Spend time doing things that make you feel good, like exercising, reading, or meditating.

Let’s keep the conversation going! Let us know if you feel you’re addicted to your screens and if you feel you can do something about it!!
