How to be organized to make time to meal-prep on the weekend?

13 Jun

Do you know what meal prepping is? It's a miracle method! Yes, a miracle, you read it right. This method will allow you, quite simply, to better get better organized and to save money, by preparing your healthy, balanced and varied meals of the week during the weekend. You will be less tempted to rush to the easy way, AKA ordering in, and above all, you will preserve your physical and mental health!

Follow the guide with 5 tips to help you eat better, get organized and save money:

1. Choose easy recipes that require little cooking time
To succeed in meal prep, choose recipes with short cooking and preparation times. This way, you can start several preparations at once and finish in a minimum of time.

2. Choose meals that can be stored
Most meals can be kept for up to 4 days. Start by eating cooked animal proteins in the first few days, i.e. eat meat or fish dishes at the beginning of the week. If you are cooking on Sunday for the whole week, you can keep the dishes from Monday to Wednesday in the refrigerator, and freeze the dishes for Thursday and Friday.

3. Plan your meals & group together your groceries
Make a list of all the groceries you need to prepare your meals for the week, and choose the ones that have some ingredients already in your pantry. All you have to do is your weekly grocery shopping and pick a day in the kitchen.

4. Diversify to stay motivated
Eating the same dishes doesn't help you stay motivated, and before you know it, you're back to your old habits. The key is to diversify. Choose basic ingredients, cooked in a simple and neutral way, to which you can add depending on your taste or mood, more seasoning and more flavor.

5. Invest in your packaging
Whether you want to take your lunch to work or save your preparations for the weekend, it is essential to have good food packaging. Go for glass and for your take-out meals, invest in a bento or lunch box to carry everything.

You are now ready to invest in your physical health through food. You have our word, you will quickly see the positive effects on your body... and your mind!
