Cultural diversity. Discuss it with your children!

08 Sep

When you talk about diversity with your children, the key words are: listening, sharing and having fun. And everything becomes as simple as …Bom dia… Obviously

  • Long live books: movies, good food, sports, there are plenty of entry points to diversity! The main thing is to make them available and to encourage your little one on this path!

  • Activities, success is guaranteed!  Choose a country or a region with your child and organize a thematic afternoon as a family. The idea is to discover the culture you have chosen through music, culinary delights, traditional games and costumes…

  • Focus on crafts: Make decorations inspired by any origin you like. Why not try the multicultural tree even? Simply take a branch and insert it in a vase filled with sand. Then, everyone can decorate the tree with a bead, a flag, a symbolic object …

Bonus tip: At the end of the activities, ask your child questions! It is through dialogue that you will increase their awareness.

Why is cultural diversity good for our children?

  • They discover new horizons: Languages, clothes, interactions with others, food, everything is conducive to openness. And it is an imagination booster!

  • They learn about themselves: Exchanges with others, young and not so young, with different habits, allow the children to get to know themselves better.

  • They are caring: By taking an interest in others, in who they are and what they like, bonds are easily created, which fosters kindness and sharing.

  • They adapt more easily: Exposure to diversity develops children's ability to adapt. They are comfortable in a variety of situations. Like fish in water!
